Frequently Asked Questions

Which roads are used?

Champagne Route - Tour 001 and 003

  • In France we will be using the Motorway as we leave Calais and making good progress towards our tour base in the city of Troyes. The days touring the Champagne region are a mix of A and B type roads. The route back to Calais is a mix of A and B roads and a quick run on the motorway as we head for the ferry

Cote d'Azur - Tour 002 and 004

  • In France we will be using the Motorway as we leave Calais, moving onto the A-roads once we get near Arras (100km). On the second day of the tour most of the miles are motorway, we need to cover a lot of miles quickly and safely. Day three sees us riding in the Alps where we use the excellent A and B roads to our destination. Around Nice and Monaco we can use the costal Motorway for a short distance to avoid the very busy coast road.

The Grand Tour - Tour 005
  • In France we will use the motorways to make quick safe progress southwards. Then it's a mix of A-roads and Motorways as we make our way further South and head through Switzerland all the way to Italy.

  • In Italy we will be using a mixture of Motorway and A/B-roads when we need to cover the longer distances quickly and safely. We have found great routes and for the days when we only need to cover limited miles we will be sticking to the back roads.
