Frequently Asked Questions

How fast do I have to ride? / How many miles do we cover each day?

How Fast

  • All the routes have been ridden at UK legal speeds to check the timings. The speed limits on the continent are similar to those we're used to in the UK although motorway speeds are a little higher. There's no need to rush, as you'd expect we want you to enjoy the touring experience we have planned for you.
  • There's no pressure for you to ride above a level you are comfortable with. We provide you with detailed route plans so you can enjoy your journey, this also gives you the opportunity to stop off at your own points of interest along the way.
  • In many cases the road type determines the pace that is being maintained.
  • On all tours one guide will be riding at a slower pace so if you feel happy at that speed you won't be on your own.

How Far

  • The distances covered vary from tour to tour and also day to day.
  • On the tour to the Champagne region the distances covered are short while the trips to the Cote d'Azur and the Grand Tour have some days when we travel over 300 miles.
  • High mileage days tend to be ridden on motorways and are done to get us quickly and safely to the better riding areas.
  • There's the option of course to take your own route on any day of the tour your room at the hotel will be waiting for you when you arrive.
